How Much Do Hockey Jerseys Cost?

Team hockey jerseys can cost anywhere between $25-$150 per jersey depending upon the jersey style and personalization involved.

Option 1 - Screen Printed Hockey Jerseys - $25-$95 per jersey

Screen-printing has long been the most common option for decorating hockey jerseys. It is when logos, numbers and/or player names (“artwork”) are “screen printed” on the jerseys. In screen printing, each additional piece of artwork adds to the cost of the jerseys. 

The starting point for screen-printed hockey jerseys are “blank jerseys”, costing between $15-$50 per jersey - not including any artwork.The cheapest blank jersey would be a solid colour practice jersey. At the higher end would be an “NHL” themed jersey (e.g. a Boston Bruins style jersey).

In addition to the cost of the blank hockey jerseys would be the cost of screen-printing your logos / numbers / names onto the jerseys. Ballpark prices for screen-printing (per jersey) would currently run:

• Front logo – 1-colour: $5-$6
• Front logo – 2-colour: $7-$9 

• Back numbers – 1-colour: $5-$6
• Back numbers – 2-colour: $10-$12

• Sleeve numbers – 1-colour: $8-$14
• Sleeve numbers – 2-colour: $16-$20+

• Player Names – 1-colour: $5-$8

Screen printing makes the most sense when you want to keep the budget as low as possible and the additional artwork is minimal. Once you start adding artwork such as sleeve numbers, 2-colour numbers or player names, the cost quickly skyrockets.

Option 2 - Sublimation Hockey Jerseys - $60-$120 per jersey

Sublimation is a manufacturing process where the entire design of the jersey and the related artwork for personalization is directly infused into the fabric. Everything from the colors of the jersey, striping, logos, player numbers and names become part of the fabric. The jersey designs themselves start out as digital designs, which are then printed on wide format printers  and “sublimated” into the fabric. At TEAMCO, we specialize insublimation hockey jerseys.

The cost of sublimation hockey jerseys can vary widely depending on where they are sourced. Generally speaking, one can expect to pay between $60-$120 per jersey. Offshore prices may appear lower at first glance but by the time currency exchange, air freight, brokerage and customs duties are factored in, any cost advantage rapidly diminishes. Also longer lead-times,  and no recourse for quality issues make sourcing off-shore a risky proposition. Sublimation jerseys are best sourced domestically.

Like screen printed jerseys, the starting point is a “blank” jersey, upon which twill artwork is added. Hockey teams who opt for twill artwork will often start with “Pro” or “NHL” themed blank jerseys, which cost approx. $40-$50 per jersey.

In addition to the cost of the blank hockey jerseys would be the cost of adding twill logos / numbers / names onto the jerseys. Ballpark prices for twill artwork would currently run (per jersey):

• Logo: $24-$30 (number of available colours in logo will vary)

• Back numbers – 1-colour: $10-$14

What type of hockey jerseys should your team choose?

Ultimately it comes down to the budget your team has. If you are looking to spend as little as possible, screen printed hockey jerseys would be the best option.

If you would like artwork on the jerseys such as full-colour logos, sleeve numbers, player names or sponsor logos, sublimation hockey jerseys offer the best value.

If budget is no factor and your team absolutely prefers the best jerseys possible, then both sublimation and twill hockey jerseys are good options.
